My Teachings
Ancient medicine for modern Times.
After years of teaching Chinese medicine to students and practitioners, I wanted to create classes that brought aspects of Chinese medicine into the community.
These community classes and workshops are all about self-care.
For 25 years now, I’ve been teaching how to stay healthy and self-care. These classes have been taught at Santa Barbara City College (Adult Education Program), Pacifica Graduate Institute, Yoga Soup, and Chinese Medicine Schools abroad.

- The Five Elements of Chinese Medicine: Understanding the relationship between emotions and organ function – how to nourish the spirit

Bernard Unterman
I have spent over 38 years exploring healing through the practice of classical Chinese medicine, acupuncture, essential oils, and community teaching.
My work focuses on helping people with chronic and unresolved health conditions by identifying the underlying imbalances that contribute to illness and restoring the body’s ability to heal itself.
In addition to my private practice in Santa Barbara, I have spent decades teaching self-care and healing practices to both community and professional audiences.
My work draws from traditional Chinese medicine, cross-cultural healing traditions, and years of study in China, México, Perú, and beyond.
